Woman to Mother, A Rite of Passage

What is a rite of passage?

According to Oxford Languages it is;

a ceremony or event marking an important stage in someone's life, especially birth, the transition from childhood to adulthood, marriage, and death.

Does that sound like becoming a mother to you?

It definitely does to me and that fuels the passion in my soul.

As the cornerstone of society mothers should be celebrated. Raising the future generations begins in the arms of the mother. By supporting and nurturing the mother we give the best chance of resilient, successful and productive future societies.

Now I could get on my soapbox and say how women are watering down motherhood and being forced to prove they are still capable. Or how they are expected to have it all and yet not be able to fully immerse in any role or version of themself. But I am not going to. I want to raise the vibration of motherhood and to do so it is essential to use a positive dialogue.

This is more important now than any other time in recent memory. Why? Because we were never meant to mother alone. It takes a village to raise a child and a strong mum tribe to raise a mother. For the past two years we coudn't connect physically. Mothers were looking after their newborns and navigating the transition of woman to mother alone in the singular unit of the immediate family.

What can you do?

Reach out to these new mums. A coffee date will be so appreciated. It is a chance to have adult interaction, share their worries but more importantly celebrate their wins and the love they have for their new baby.

Can you send a gift to make mum feel valued, connected and that she is doing an awesome job? Make it a gift that is for her as a woman. Something that she can use to take a few moments of self care and instantly you are raising her vibrations.

Become a cheerleading squad! Celebrate all her wins:

I got me and baby up and dressed before lunchtime. In fact I got baby changed four times and myself twice.

Yes! Well done you bl$$dy awesome mummy!

I couldn’t find the tv remote control for over an hour until I opened the fridge for milk,

Whoops, but it still works so yeah you found it!

I took a pee in peace,

Yes! You go girl!

These are all achievements that the woman never expected to be a challenge and the mother feels so happy to have achieved but feels she should be able to do with ease. Let her know she is enough and is doing amazing. Share your wins no matter what stage of motherhood you are in. Share your spectacular mum moments from the stage of motherhood she is in. The complete fails that you can look back on with love and gratitude. The small wins that made you do a happy dance in the kitchen and those big moments that filled your whole life with love.

"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother",

These words by Lin Yutang made me take a sharp breath in and want to shout yes, yes, yes!

This is exactly how every new mother, every mum and the tribe of women that support her should feel. More importantly this is what they should believe.

So celebrate your birth of a mother. Create rituals to mark your rite of passage. Share these rituals with you mum tribe. Make the rite of passage a celebration. Find your authentic version of motherhood and mother in participation not perfect.

Together even whilst being apart we can raise the motherhood vibration.

About Me

Hi I am Nixie; artist, author & moon witch. My soul-led mission is to empower soul-centred mamas on their divine feminine journey.

As a teenage mum I suffered a traumatic birth resulting in my baby son fighting for his life and having severe complex needs as a result. Life then threw challenge after challenge at me including a domestic violent relationship. It took the crumbling of myself and howling in pain to begin the journey to return to me. Finding myself as a new mum in her early forties became the point when I truly embraced my soul's purpose.

I was always a little different as a primary school teacher once described me; but I felt this part of me needed to be hidden. I have now stepped into my power of psychic artist, crystal energy worker and moon witch . I empower the feminine through art, crystals and the moon. Evoking the Goddess power within and calling the witch out I empower the mis-fit mamaa who was never going to squeeze herself into the round hole by bringing clarity and direction to their life.

If you enjoy this space please come and join me on Facebook where you will find my community of soul-led, mission based women in Spiritual Art, Crystals & Community For Mums.
